How To Apply and Qualify to The Whitby Silver Stick
The
"AA" & "AAA" Whitby Silver Stick is always held the last weekend in
November and coincides with the
American Thanksgiving long
weekend. At present, there are 120 teams participating from the USA
and Canada.
Silver
Stick Tournaments are the most prestigious tournaments in North America and most
teams from every league
are eager to enter. For
the Whitby Silver Stick, our selection process is outlined below.
North American AAA Minor Atom, Peewee, Bantam & Midget Finals:
All "AAA"
classification teams are by invitation only except for the Champions of our Tier
I Silver Stick Regional
in Washington DC.
Selection
is based on the results
of their previous year. Teams considered (but not always selected) would have
finished first in their
league or won their league
championship, such as OMHA champions, GTHL champions,
Alliance
champions, etc. In some cases, the second place team in that league may be
considered and invited
as well. This assures a very high level of competition
every year.
"AA" Minor Atom, Pewee & Bantam Regional Qualifier:
"AA" teams are welcome to apply. Generally, the earliest applications received are the ones who are successful.
"AA" tournament application forms can be obtained from:
Delmer
Rints, 109 Palmerston Ave., Whitby L1N 3E6

If
chosen, your team will be emailed an application and you will be asked to
complete the application and return
by email. Typing the names is
necessary because the roster is used to cut and paste for our Tournament
Program.
This
is very important for
a number of reasons. All games have an announcer, so we
use the printed program to
read names instead of the game sheet which is
not nearly as legible and in some cases, not readable at all. No
player
wants to hear his name pronounced incorrectly, especially when receiving a
trophy.
Teams submitting hand written Applications will be asked to resubmit them typed
on the Part 2 Roster Sheet
emailed to the team. Many times, the name is indecipherable and
invariably appears wrong in the printed program.
It is best to use lower case
typing.
For example: The name "MACDONALD". It is
"Macdonald" or Mac Donald"?
